Application Process for Distance Learning

Applying for an online college is not that same as applying to a traditional school.  They do not make you jump through hoops getting the best scores, recommendation, and background necessary to attend an ivy league college.  These schools are primarily for profit companies (though there are some that are non-profit). So the more students they have, the more profitable they become.  This does not necessarily mean the quality of the education is not on par with colleges that require SAT scores and recommendation letters.

Our concept of education is a constantly evolving process.  The amount of students attending online colleges has grown from just under 2 million in 2003 to over 2.6 million in 2004.  Distance learning is here to stay.  Solid majorities of online students felt that online education was at least equal to traditional schools, with 67% saying the overall quality of the education was equal, and 68% feeling the quality of the degree is just as good.
