Finding a Scholarships
You have to do your research to find a scholarship. Scholarships usually have certain criteria that need to be meet, like certain grades, or your personal background. You can start at your school's college office. High school counselors often receive lots of mailing about scholarships. Run an internet search on Google or Yahoo and you will find tons of websites with scholarship information. Go the library and search through scholarship books there. Many scholarships are available to minorities.
Do not procrastinate, start early. Scholarships have deadlines. The money doesn't lie around forever. Make copies of all your applications as references after you send them out. Have copies of all your transcripts and exam information available, as well as tax returns on hand. So scholarships require a personal interview. Prepare for these interviews, and look professional. Wearing a suit never hurts.
