TOEFL
Test of English as a Foreign Language is an exam administered to students whose native language is not English. The exam is mostly taken by international students, looking to attend university in the US. The score needed depends on the college that you are trying to attend. This exam is not used like an SAT or GRE, the exam is secondary to those scores for admissions. The exam presents the colleges with information as to your English proficiency. Since you probably want to understand your professors in college, this exam is as much for you as it is for your college, in understanding your ability to understand English.
The TOEFL is sometimes required for online colleges and distance learning schools.
